How We Handle Customer Messaging.
ShopForge is a shop management platform used by independent auto repair shops to communicate with their own customers about vehicle service. SMS messages are sent by shops to customers who have an active or recent service relationship and have provided consent.
What SMS Messages Are Sent
Shops send the following types of transactional and service messages through ShopForge:
- Appointment reminders and confirmations
- Work order status updates (in progress, vehicle ready for pickup, etc.)
- Digital vehicle inspection report links
- Invoice and payment links (text-to-pay)
- Estimate approval notifications
- Service reminders (e.g. oil change due)
- Google review requests after service completion
Example message: “Hi Sarah, your 2019 Honda Civic is ready for pickup at Bavarian Independent. Invoice: [link]. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
How Customers Opt In
Customers must provide explicit consent before any SMS messages are sent. Consent is collected in two ways:
- Online booking consent checkboxAn unchecked consent checkbox on every online booking form that customers must affirmatively check before submitting. See a live example at app.refit.build/book/bavarian-independent.
- Verbal consent at the shopShop staff collect verbal consent in person or by phone and record it in the customer's profile in ShopForge, with a timestamp and the staff member who collected it.
No messages are sent to any customer who has not provided consent through one of these methods.
How Customers Opt Out
- Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe from all future SMS.
- Reply HELP to receive support contact information.
- Opt-out requests are processed automatically and immediately. The customer receives a confirmation message and no further messages are sent.
- Customers can also ask shop staff to remove them, and staff can toggle SMS consent off in the customer record.
Standard Disclosures
- Message frequency varies based on service activity (typically 2–10 messages per service visit).
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on the customer's mobile carrier plan.
- Mobile information is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
